What You Will Do:

At Independent Software, as a System Administrator Level 2, you will support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and security of enterprise systems and applications supporting mission-critical operations. You will maintain servers and operating systems, troubleshoot system and network issues, support users, and help ensure systems remain secure, available, and performing effectively.

You will also support system upgrades and deployments, monitor system health and capacity, assist with security controls and compliance activities, and collaborate with IT teams across network, security, applications, and help desk functions.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Monitor, manage, and maintain servers, operating systems, and key applications
  • Apply patches, updates, and configuration changes in accordance with change management procedures
  • Perform routine system health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning
  • Diagnose and resolve system, application, and network-related issues
  • Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues from help desk and Tier 1 teams
  • Support user account management, permissions, and access controls
  • Install, configure, and deploy new systems, applications, and tools
  • Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and integrations
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and standards
  • Help implement and monitor security controls, including antivirus, endpoint protection, firewalls, and access management
  • Participate in audits, risk assessments, and remediation activities
  • Use monitoring tools to track system performance, availability, and capacity
  • Respond to alerts, incidents, and outages and perform root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Prepare reports on system health, incidents, and improvements
  • Collaborate with network, security, applications, and help desk teams on technical initiatives and projects
  • Contribute to IT process improvements, standards, documentation, and system architecture improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Experience with system administration and maintenance
  • Experience supporting servers, operating systems, applications, and enterprise IT environments
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Experience providing remote technical assistance and remote desktop support
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve system, application, and network-related problems
  • Experience with system monitoring, performance, availability, and capacity management
  • Knowledge of system security controls, access management, endpoint protection, and firewalls
  • Experience supporting system upgrades, migrations, patching, and configuration changes
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to support escalated technical issues and provide guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Must be able to work Wednesday – Sunday, 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
  • Must be available for the initial training schedule of Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Education and Experience:

Candidates must meet one of the following:

 
  • High School Diploma or GED and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of relevant experience

Certifications: 
 
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level I requirements
