Protocol Analyst, Level 3
What you will be doing!
As a Protocol Analyst (Level 3) at Independent Software, you’ll apply advanced expertise in signals analysis—focusing primarily on communication signals such as bitstreams, waveforms, and protocols. You will work directly on identifying, characterizing, and troubleshooting complex network traffic while leveraging your experience in communications signal analysis and network security..
Key Responsibilities:
Perform in-depth protocol and bitstream analysis on complex communication signals.
Utilize tools such as DVT, WVT, and PKTSWING for waveform and protocol characterization.
Analyze large volumes of raw hexadecimal data (hexdumps) to identify repeatable patterns or hidden communications.
Collaborate with analysts and engineers on signal discovery and exploitation efforts.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physical Science, or related technical field with 8 years of relevant experience.
Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
Doctoral degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
Associate’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience (with qualifying military training).
High school diploma or GED with 12 years of relevant experience (with qualifying military training).
Completion of military training courses 450, 451 (Intermediate Signals Analysis), or 452 (Advanced Signals Analysis), or participation in the Military COMINT Signals Analysis Program (MCSAP).
Proficiency in using advanced signal analysis tools and methodologies
Hands-on work with communication signal analysis tools.
Strong understanding of network troubleshooting, traffic characterization, and cyber threat detection.
Deep technical knowledge of communication protocols and waveform structures.
Clearance Required: Must possess an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph security clearance to be considered for this role
