Network Engineering - Annapolis Junction, MD - Full Time

What you will be doing!

As a Telecommunications Network Engineer Level 1, you will provide network engineering services that encompass all aspects of network management, including design, implementation, maintenance, and support of existing networks, as well as identifying and resolving complex internetwork issues

Responsibilities

  • Deliver network engineering services to support LAN and CAN components of a large enterprise network.
  • Align customer requirements with standard architecture designs and collaborate with the service delivery team to implement network upgrades.
  • Provide Tier-3 support, which includes corrective actions, equipment refresh assistance, modernization efforts, and the initiation of new network setups.
  • Utilize your networking expertise to ensure that network capacity and availability Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including operations, installation, security, and systems engineers, to fulfill contract requirements and meet SLAs.
  • Design, document, configure, and troubleshoot network architectures, including VLANs, OSPF areas, and the Core, Distribution, and Access architecture layers, as well as connectivity to data centers and end users.
  • Employ network management tools like MFNA, SolarWinds, and Gemx to analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput), troubleshoot issues, and suggest corrective actions.

Experience and Education: 

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope and complexity is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Hands-on experience with VOIP, QoS, OSPF, multicast, VPNs, firewalls, and Ethernet is essential.
  • Experience with installing and configuring various network devices—such as firewalls, switches, routers, and cabling from Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper—is a plus.
  • An IAT level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M is required 
  • Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph to be considered for this role.
