Software Engineer - Annapolis Junction, MD - Full Time
What You Will Do:
As a Software Engineer Level 0 at Independent Software, you will develop, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting mission-critical government systems. Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will design, code, test, and debug software while contributing to the development of reliable, high-performance solutions.
This role is ideal for recent graduates or entry-level software engineers looking to build their careers in a collaborative environment while supporting national security missions.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze user requirements to develop software design and performance solutions
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components
Debug existing software and resolve defects
Modify existing software to add new features and improve functionality
Integrate software into new or modified operating environments
Develop simple database queries for existing and proposed data repositories
Participate in software testing and document test results
Support software integration and system validation activities
Contribute to software design discussions, including hardware/software tradeoffs and reuse of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions
Follow established software development methodologies and engineering best practices
Collaborate with software engineers and system engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of software development principles and object-oriented programming
Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to learn new technologies and development tools
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university
OR
Four (4) years of Software Engineering experience on projects utilizing similar software development processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Clearance Requirement:
Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
