What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, maintaining a robust cybersecurity posture is critical to mission success. As an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), you will support the security and integrity of information systems by implementing, coordinating, and enforcing security policies and procedures. You will help ensure compliance with established cybersecurity frameworks, manage risk assessments, and oversee day-to-day security operations for systems processing classified information.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the development and enforcement of information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies
Assist with the preparation, review, and maintenance of critical security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, and Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages
Perform vulnerability and risk assessments to support system certification and accreditation activities
Manage configuration control for security-related software, hardware, and firmware; assess the security impact of system changes
Maintain operational security posture by monitoring compliance with security policies and procedures
Provide daily oversight of system security operations and administer user identification and authentication mechanisms
Collaborate with Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and other stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity objectives are met
Track and maintain records on workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, switches, and other network devices
Support security authorization activities in accordance with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and applicable DoD/ODNI policies
Communicate effectively with IT staff, management, and customers regarding cybersecurity policies, incidents, and compliance status
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive experience supporting information assurance programs and managing information systems security
Proven ability to evaluate, propose, and implement security solutions for systems handling classified information
Strong knowledge of current security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, and encryption techniques
Experience performing vulnerability and risk assessments and supporting certification and accreditation processes
Excellent documentation and communication skills for preparing detailed security documentation and briefings
Strong organizational skills to manage configuration control and security posture maintenance
Education and Experience:
Fifteen (15) years of experience as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) on similar programs and contracts
At least three (3) years of experience in at least three of the following areas:
Current security tools
Hardware/software security implementation
Communication protocols
Encryption techniques/tools
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution is required;
Alternatively, five (5) years of additional ISSO experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
Certifications:
IAM Level I certification required
Clearance Requirement:
Must possess an active TS/SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
