System Engineer, Level 2
What You Will Do:
As a System Engineer Level 2 at Independent Software, you will support the design, administration, maintenance, and optimization of computer systems in a mission-focused environment in Anchorage, Alaska. You will work across system architecture, hardware, software, networking, and operational support to ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and performing effectively.
In this role, you will troubleshoot system and network issues, perform system installations and upgrades, support users, conduct system audits, and assist with planning improvements to existing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and define system architectures for new and existing computer systems
- Configure, maintain, and support computer systems, hardware, software, and network components
- Troubleshoot moderately complex hardware, software, and network issues
- Install and upgrade operating systems and layered software packages
- Monitor, tune, and optimize systems for performance and reliability
- Maintain workstation and server data integrity using established hardware and software solutions
- Support system backups, database archive operations, and data recoverability
- Conduct hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards and configuration guidelines
- Ensure system performance and security meet operational and user requirements
- Evaluate existing systems and assist with long-term system planning
- Provide technical support and training to end users
- Provide guidance to less-experienced technical personnel as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong Systems Administration experience
- Experience with Systems Architecture
- Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, software, and network issues
- Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading computer systems
- Experience monitoring and optimizing system performance
- Knowledge of workstation/server security, data integrity, backup, and recovery practices
- Ability to provide technical support to users and work effectively with technical teams
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree plus fourteen (14) years of qualifying IT-related experience; or
- High School Diploma or GED plus nineteen (19) years of qualifying IT-related experience
Clearance Requirement:
- Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
