What You Will Do:

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mission-critical IT systems. You’ll manage and monitor infrastructure components including servers, storage, and networks, while ensuring system integrity, performance, and compliance. Your work will span Tier 1 help desk through Tier 2 escalation, with responsibilities that include Linux/Windows administration, shell scripting, vulnerability remediation, and automation with Ansible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for troubleshooting and maintaining IT systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux (CentOS/RHEL) and Windows operating systems.
  • Perform system patching using YUM, vulnerability remediation, and IAVA compliance reporting.
  • Support PKI (e.g., issuing, renewing, and revoking certificates).
  • Monitor infrastructure using Nagios; analyze performance issues across systems.
  • Use tools such as SecurityCenter, Nessus, Trellis Agent, ENSL, and UAM to support cyber hygiene and monitoring.
  • Write and maintain shell scripts and Ansible playbooks for system automation and configuration.
  • Perform VM lifecycle tasks: building, configuring, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage GIT repositories, handle branching/tagging, and support code/configuration tracking.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs in Confluence.
  • Interface with users and agency stakeholders to escalate and resolve system issues.
  • Support service dispatch requests and remain involved in hardware troubleshooting through resolution.
  • Provide input on capacity planning, performance optimization, and SOA integration.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, particularly RHEL/CentOS.
  • Experience with virtual machines, storage, performance tuning, and system monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting, Ansible, Git, and automated patching.
  • Experience reading vulnerability reports and implementing compliance solutions.
  • Familiarity with Biscotti, LatteArt, and STE toolsets (e.g., Nessus, UAM, Trellis).
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to management and end users.
  • Skilled at documenting procedures and workflows.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university + 15 years of systems administration experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, five (5) additional years of SA experience may be substituted.

Certifications:
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher (e.g., Security+ CE) is required.

Clearance Requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance to be considered for this role.
